Wamego JV Meet
Despite Northwest wind that cooled the recently hot JV Red Raiders today, they were still able to take the 1st place medals for the 2-man (102). After a strong showing in Sabetha and Clay Center, no one was able to break 50 today. Hayden Wolf (6th), shot just that. Kyle Mueller (10th) shot a 52, and broke a tie with his teammates Luke Hannan (11th) and Matt Roudybush (12th) by shooting a 5 on the par 4 8th. Fortunately, the wind hampered scores for other teams as well. Manhattan High, a 6A opponent, shot a 103 in the 2-man (2nd) and a 190 in the 4-man (1st). Abilene placed 2nd in the 4-man with a 213. Wamego's 4-man placed 3rd with a 232. Check the tab above for the full results.

Wamego Invitational
Junior Matt Roudybush putts for par on the par 4 #1 |
It was an amazing day at Wamego Golf Course on Tuesday,
April 2nd. Freshman Ryan
Elder (72) and Parker Waters (76) placed 1st and 2nd
respectively in their first Varsity golf meet.
Junior Dane Stewart (86) was able to place in the top 10. There superb efforts elevated Wamego to first
in the 2 man pairing, and 3rd in the 4-man pairing. Wamego also placed 1st in the 6
man event. All scorers shot under 100
for the Red Raiders: Seniors Ryan Helus
(90), Nick Webb (96), and Austin Waters (99).
When taking the top 4 scores, which is how it will be scored for NCKL Championships and Regionals,
Wamego topped all other teams by over 20 strokes. “I still left a lot out on the course,” said
Freshman Ryan Elder, “I lipped out 3 birdie putts.” After shotgun starting on
#15, Dane Stewart was able to right the ship despite double bogeying the par 5
#16 and par 4 #18 by shooting just above par golf the rest of the way. Senior
Ryan Helus wasn’t happy with his performance but knows it will come together
eventually, “I was able to putt really
well…I just need to straighten out my tee-shots.” Coach Petermann noted, “The
team competed today with only a handful of official practices. The weather has kept the course closed for
much of the pre-season, so the scores should continue to drop. Keep an eye out for this squad, they aren’t
going anywhere but up.”
